Hope everyone is doing well.  Where has the time gone!?!  It’s already Labour Day and it’s back to the usual dull dreary, rainy days!  I can’t believe how quickly summer has gone by.  What a beautiful, sunny, warm summer we had!  I loved it!

I didn’t get a chance to do any pin-trading during the summer as I was so busy but I do have several new non-retail pins to trade…LiveCity, Mukmuk BC 1 year to go and Sumac Ridge winery pins.  Unfortunately I won’t have time to add any ads on Craigs List until October at the earliest as I’m quite busy the rest of September.  Hopefully there will still be pinheads around by then!

I was recently very lucky and got the With Glowing Hearts book and have started reading it…thank you very much K!  I am enjoying it very much!

I didn’t have any of the coveted Canada hoodies during the Olympics/Paralympics but had a boys red Team Canada non-zippered hoody, a mascot Aritizia hoody and several fleecies and fleece hoodies and t-shirts.  The reason why I didn’t have any Canada hoodies was because the women’s ones were too tight and I found that the men’s hoods were too heavy.  But I lost weight for my cousin’s wedding and now have made up for lost time and have a boys grey hoodie and a womens’ red one and black one 🙂

I went to the Pacific Pin Club for the first time today and saw some of the people I have traded with over the past few months.  Some of those who had tables last Sunday at the Lucky Charms Pin Collection pin swap at Killarney had tables again today.  I commiserated with another pin trader after she told me she had spent a lot of money on pins and was feeling depressed.  Whenever I think about how much money I’ve spent on pins…I think to myself… there are worst things to be addicted to…and at least pins don’t take up too much space!  The thing I find it difficult to do is focus on anything else.  Since I’ve become a pin addict and obsessed with pins I haven’t really done anything over the past few months except:  Eat, sleep, work, trade or buy pins and buy Olympic/Paralympic sale merchandise.  Well, my traders are starting to dwindle so perhaps I will be able to get back to reality soon!!!

Thank you so much to everyone I’ve traded with!  I ended up with 28 more pins that I got from trading today.  Everyone I’ve traded with so far have been so nice and friendly.  Those I didn’t trade with were really nice to me too and practiced good etiquette at rejecting me gently when they didn’t want to trade.  It has been quite a good experience for me in this new pin community I’ve discovered.  I’ve heard a few negative comments about pin-trading during the Games, but luckily my addiction didn’t start until the end of the Paralympics so I was oblivious to it.

I get quite exhausted after these pin shows as it’s tiring standing around for a couple of hours looking at and bartering for pins.  But at the time I go into this other zone…a euphoric state that I am learning to get used to…it is quite exhilarating looking at and being surrounded by soooooooo many pins (and their owners)!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to the Olympic/Paralympic Village open house yesterday.  Too bad it was shut down an hour early due to protesters.  But fortunately today I was able to make it to my first pin trading event at Killarney Community Centre which was put on by Lucky Charms Pin Collection  They had flyers out already for their next pin trading event which will be on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 1pm to 4pm at Aberdeen Centre in Richmond.  I don’t see anything yet about it on their website.  I guess they will update it soon.

This was my first time going to Killarney since the new pool opened in 2006 and the centre renovations.  It was quite an impressive renovation.

I had 3 pin trades lined up already to be done at Killarney so was quite busy meeting those people when I first got there.  I was pleasantly surprised to see 5 other people I had traded with since Easter and 2 who I have been emailing back and forth but haven’t met.  That was strange for them to figure out it was me but they recognized my curling venue pin.

Thank you so much to all the traders who traded with me.  After trading only via Craigs List since Easter it was great to actually trade in person from start to finish.  I was astounded after I got home and counted all the pins I got today via trading…25!!!  I couldn’t believe it!

It’s getting late so I will have to update my traders list another day.

I’m looking forward to going to my first Pacific Pin Club show coming up this weekend.  I have no idea what to expect with the seasoned pinheads there.

Wow!  May is the month for pin shows!  Soooo exciting!!!

May 22 and 23, 2010 is the 2-day pin show at the Pacific Pin Club:  www.pacificpinclub.org

I wasn’t able to make it to the Lucky Charms first pin swap and haven’t been to the Pacific Pin Club before so hopefully I will be able to make it to both of these events as well as the open house!

I’ve just added photos of my trader pins.  I still need to add photos of my stickers, tatoos and keychains but will work on that another day.  I’ve done quite a few trades in the past few weeks and was hoping to blog about each one and the person I traded with…but unfortunately it is like having a second job to do so much blog updating!  Perhaps later!

Well, I did my third trade today.  Thanks to P for adding to my trader collection.  I haven’t taken any photos yet of my new traders but here’s a photo I borrowed:

This is my first post on my new blog.  Today marks the one-week anniversary of my first trade and it is also the day I did my second trade.  Thanks Joanne for the volunteer pins…they are sooooo cute and much better to see and admire in person than in the photos.
